Brigshaw High School Sixth Form recognises that supporting students financially through their Post 16 education can be challenging for a number of families. We can therefore offer financial support through the Government 16 - 19 Bursary Fund, which can support students with their academic studies and educational needs.
We understand that these needs can vary greatly between individuals and our Sixth Form staff will support our students through the application process in accordance with the Bursary Policy.
The bursary is made up of two parts: a bursary of £1200 a year, which is allocated to the most vulnerable young people and a discretionary fund for schools, academies and colleges to distribute. The bursary can be used to pay for some/all of the following: clothing, books or other equipment for courses as well as transport on the days students attend Sixth Form, course related trips, UCAS applications and open day costs.
Students who believe that they fit the criteria to make an application can request a form and return to any member of the Sixth Form team. We can accept applications throughout the academic year as a student's financial and/or home situation dictates.
Entitlement to the bursary is directly linked to household income, benefits received or a student who finds themselves in financial hardship. Further information on the Government 16 - 19 Bursary Fund can be found at www.gov.uk 16-19 Bursary Fund
