Marvellous mathematicians

More than twelve hundred pupils across the Trust enjoyed taking part in a two week Maths Investigation event aimed at raising achievement and celebrating success. Our schools’ commitment to working together demonstrates that the Co-operative Trust is bringing benefits for everyone.

Each school ran their own challenge events setting age-appropriate Maths problems and pupils used their skills to find the solutions. Then class teams from each year group attended celebratory Maths events including a Maths picnic, creative Maths activities using Tangrams and even a ‘Bake off’ to showcase their fabulous work.  Pupils met and worked with other children from across the Trust and had fun sharing their ideas and skills.

Year 6 pupils attended Brigshaw where they used their presentation skills to wow the ‘Dragon’s Den’ judges: Martin Dove (Governor), Amanda Healy-Gardener (Maths Team Leader) and Martin Truscott (Phase Leader – Transition). They also enjoyed fun Maths activities such as making a Maths Christmas tree and a Maths Trail around Brigshaw to help them become more familiar with the school.

We were absolutely thrilled with everyone’s efforts to produce such imaginative, quality pieces of work. It was a fantastic opportunity for all schools to work together and share the good practice that is happening across all our schools. Look out for our children’s work which will be displayed in local venues.
