Technology - Graphic Products
Why study Graphic Products?
Graphic design is communication through images and words with the end result, usually, being a printed product (books, posters, point of sale displays) or an electronic product (web sites, CD ROMs).
You may enjoy this course if you: wants to learn the creative skills employers are looking for; are interested in magazine or CD design; think you can sell a product to an audience by reflecting their values. There are a variety of careers available in multimedia, including designing and creating web-sites and CD ROMs for popular culture, or perhaps you might see yourself as an engineer or architect in the future?
What will I study?
The course combines traditional technical drawing skills (isometric, perspective, orthographic), with more creative skills associated with graphics (typography, illustration, model making). CAD/CAM, commercial production methods, and materials knowledge are also developed and used throughout the course.
What skills will I develop?
You will develop ICT skills and layout skills which will benefit you every time you have a document to prepare in any subject area. Through product analysis of packaging, corporate identity and advertising, you will learn analytical and interpretive skills which will help you to understand the graphical world around you. Many of the skills you will gain from Graphic Products can be transferred to other subject areas.
