Sixth Form at Brigshaw

Post 16 Prospectus

Post 16 Results 2016

Our view is that the Sixth Form is a time when a student moves from being an adolescent to an adult. We aim to give students increasing amounts of freedom over the two years that they are here. Of course, we expect this freedom to be matched by an increase in the amount of responsibility they take for independent study and in their general contribution to the life of the school.

We recognise that teaching and learning is the most important thing that happens at Brigshaw so we are rightly proud of our students and staff.

In 2015, 53% of our Y13 students went on to a Higher Education course, many of them at Russell Group Universities. 43% of Y13 students chose to go into employment or take on a higher-level apprenticeship.

We also believe that being in the Sixth Form is about more than academic success. Students do two weeks of work experience in high quality placements and are also encouraged to take on leadership roles in the lower school. There are lots of extra-curricular opportunities for sixth formers including trips abroad, theatre visits and university summer schools.
