Geography

Why study Geography?

Geography deals with issues and topics relevant to today’s world and your future in it. You only have to watch TV or open a newspaper and read about such things as global warming, flooding, famines, earthquakes, pollution and the European Union to see how studying Geography not only prepares you to understand these issues but maybe, in a small way, influence their outcome.

What will I study?

You will study a number of topics including Physical geography, eg techtonic activity, resources and scenery, weather and climate; Human geography, eg population change, urban environments and globalisation and tourism; and a fieldwork investigation based on a day’s fieldwork away from school.

What skills will I develop?

You will develop a huge range of skills such as: problem solving, working with others and report writing. These and the many others you will learn can be adapted to any other subject and they will give you a strong base when it comes to finding a job.
