Art

Why study Art & Design?
Design is part of our everyday life and a designer of some kind has contributed to virtually everything you or your family own. There is a wide range of career opportunities that can be achieved through an Art & Design education.

During this course you will become more perceptive as you look more closely at the world around you and understand what you see; you will develop your imagination and discover creative solutions and responses to problems you might incur; you will develop the creative skills to express yourself visually; and will gain insight into how others, sometimes from different ages or cultures, have expressed themselves.

What will I study?
You will spend time developing a range of creative skills based on a variety of themes including: your own immediate world, human relationships, the natural and man-made environment and cultural and political events. You will learn to support your work by looking at the work of artists from different cultures and past ages. You will develop an awareness of today’s artists and designers and their work.

What skills will I develop?
This course covers a broad range of techniques including: printmaking, textiles, ceramics, sculpture and computer aided design; drawing and recording skills in a wide range of media, and research skills using libraries, museums and the Internet to support your work.
